Multiplication Tables (Download) The standard 12 by 12 times tables with a few tips and tricks. Can be folded in half to see either the table or the tips or unfolded to see both. (57 KB PDF file)

   
Tax Math (Download) With the Income Tax deadline looming, I was inspired to do a little investigating of how much the population earns versus how much the government spends. The results were eye-opening but it was a bit more eye-opening to see just what it takes to come up with a few good math problems based on the facts. I have taught before, but mostly adults and mostly computer related subjects although I have worked with some younger folks in Algebra and pre-algebra subjects. This handout has two sections: The top is facts about GDP, the populus and government spending and the bottom is the actual math problems. These are all word problems as I wanted to use the facts at the top and had explain the question at hand. There is an answer key at the bottom which is all in dark colors because most copy machines are low resolution and will likely end up 'smudging' the key. My hope is that teachers can print an original for themselves and make copies for students without revealing the key. If your copy machine actually reproduces the key, you can always put another piece of paper over that section of the page or fold it over to hide the answers. (82 KB PDF file)
